Two Weeks in Rzeszów: A Life-Changing Erasmus+ VET Experience

My name is Florian. I am 20 years old, and I am from Hungary. Recently, I participated in a two-week Erasmus+ program entitled Environmental Protection. Accompanied by some of my classmates, we traveled to Rzeszów and were hosted by INPRO.

INPRO has six volunteers from different countries on its staff who conducted language workshops for us, teaching us about their culture and customs. These interactions opened my mind. It’s incredible to me that so many people were willing to come from such distant countries to be here. The significance of cooperation and mutual understanding deepened during these two weeks. The same applies when we discuss environmental action.

One person isn’t enough to change the world, just as individuals need others. Similarly, countries need to cooperate with each other, especially when addressing global issues like the environment. Over the course of those two weeks, we visited various places dedicated to environmental restoration. We engaged with the community to understand how the population perceives environmental issues and how individuals approach them.

My personal favourite place that we visited during these two weeks was Lancut Castle. As a hobby painter myself, I was fascinated by the portraits and landscape drawings; they truly stood out to me. Additionally, seeing the weaponry and other forms of art was captivating. It’s a beautiful experience when we encounter remnants from the past, as they make us more appreciative of what we have today.

Rzeszów was an entirely different world for me, and despite the unfamiliar environment, we managed to reach an understanding. There is a deeper significance to these VET (vocational education and training) programs. I feel that these two weeks helped me clarify what I might want to pursue in life. Specifically, the paths I wish to follow helped dissipate the fog that had been constantly weighing me down. I highly recommend this program to others because these two weeks were something I will likely never forget due to the cherished moments they provided.
