My Monday Story: From Germany to the Stage at Urban Lab
Hi! I’m Torben, I’m from Germany, and I’m currently living in Rzeszów, Poland, volunteering with INPRO. Among the many events we’re involved in here, there’s one that holds a special place in my heart – Monday Stories. And I’d love to share a bit of my experience with you.
So, what’s Monday Stories all about?
Every Monday at 6 PM, people gather at Urban Lab in the centre of Rzeszów for something more than just a presentation. Monday Stories is a weekly event where international guests—volunteers, travellers, locals—share their stories, cultures, and insights in an open and friendly atmosphere. It’s casual, it’s welcoming, and most of all, it’s about connecting.
One week you might learn how people celebrate the New Year in Armenia, another you’ll discover what school life looks like in France, or what to try (and what to avoid!) in Vietnamese street food. And the best part? You can ask anything—really!
When it was my turn…
Presenting about Germany was nerve-wracking at first. It was not only my first time standing in front of a group like that, but also the first Monday Stories of the season with the new batch of volunteers. No pressure, right?
But here’s the thing—preparation goes a long way. Once I got going, the nerves faded, and it turned into a fun and rewarding evening. People were genuinely curious, asked great questions, and even laughed at my jokes (thank you!).
If I could do it, so can you.
Your turn?
Are you a foreigner living in Rzeszów or nearby? Do you have a story to tell about your home country, your traditions, your journey? Monday Stories is your chance to share a piece of your culture—and meet people just as curious as you are.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t need to be a public speaker. You just need a bit of courage and something to say. We’ll help you with the rest.
Interested? Reach out to us. No pressure, no strings attached—just a chance to try something new.
Hope to see you at the next Monday Stories—either in the audience or on stage!
