New Perspectives On Abilities

Thanks to our fruitful cooperation established with the Russian organization Perspectivy during our previous EVS project together (Bridges over culture), we decided to continue sending volunteers to  St. Petersburg.  That’s why we received funds in order to make it possible for Lidia and Tomasz to stay in Russia for a period of one year.

Tomasz’s mobility lasts from October 2019 to October 2020 and is realized within the New perspectives on abilities ESC project.

Lidia’s ESC project, Bridges Over Culture takes place between October 2019 and September 2020.

Perspectivy is an organization based in St. Petersburg and works for people with disabilities and children in foster care. Perspectivy has been hosting volunteers from all over Europe for many years.

European volunteers help Perspectivy realizing the following activities:

School for All, activity which involves working with families to prevent children from living in the orphanage.

–  daycare center for children between 6 and 16 years old,

– running the Employment center for minors and adults with developmental disabilities.

Lidia works at the daycare center where she takes care of people with physical and mental disabilities on a daily basis. She spends time with them, helps them with feeding, toilets, etc.

The volunteers spend time with children, developing self-acceptance and respect in them, encouraging them to be independent, gain new experience, to move, while taking care of their safety. They play with children, giving them a chance to fulfill their natural need to play. They also have space to implement their own ideas.
