School Visit at Zespół Szkół Technicznych i Artystycznych in Lesko

Visiting schools is one of our daily activities as volunteers at INPRO, normally the schools are located in Rzeszów, but sometimes we have the chance to visit some little towns in the Podkarpackie region. This blog is about one of those opportunities.

Last April 9, Mariem and I (Adrian) went on a tour to visit the Zespół Szkół Technicznych i Artystycznych in Lesko, a small village close to the Ukrainian border. We embarked on a 3-day adventure with the centre’s students and teachers. Once there, we were accommodated with the students in their residence, a large building next to the institute where we would teach our workshops and activities.

The enthusiasm of the students and teachers for our presence was noticeable in every conversation and every activity. Through dynamic presentations, the centre’s students were able to learn a little more about our countries and cultures (Tunisia and Spain). During these days, we were also able to have talks with the students about other topics such as social media or artificial intelligence and how they influence our society. But not everything was enriching and educational classes and talks, the students also had the opportunity to ask questions and laugh with us and enjoy activities that they rarely have the opportunity to do. During the second day of our stay, we also had time to enjoy a small city tour around some tourist attractions and spots in Lesko, with the help of several students who acted as guides and mentors during their stay.

During the 3 days that the visit lasted, we received the love of all the people at the centre, we ate with the students and enjoyed our time together. Moreover, we received some gifts as a sign of gratitude for our great work during the workshops. Additionally, and extremely surprisingly, we had the opportunity to participate in a small shooting class alongside other students. Thanks to technology, we were able to test our skills and enjoy a peculiar lesson, different from what we are used to. Even though the visit lasted 3 days, we appreciated the great work and passion of all the professors and professionals in the centre, and the joy of the students and we took back with us to Rzeszów an unforgettable experience that we hope to repeat soon.
