When the classroom meets practice

Tourism and gastronomy can be taught in a classroom. But it is only when real decisions, teamwork and new environments appear that this knowledge begins to take on a practical meaning.

This was the perspective from which students and teachers from Sárvári Turisztikai Technikum in Hungary experienced their three-week stay in Rzeszów as part of the Erasmus+ VET programme.

One part of the programme focused on business simulation games, where participants stepped into the roles of managers running their own companies. They had to make decisions related to finance, organisation and strategy, which quickly showed how theoretical knowledge translates into practical choices.

An important element of the stay was also contact with the local educational environment. The group visited Zespół Szkół Gospodarczych im. Mikołaja Spytka Ligęzy in Rzeszów and Zespół Szkół nr 3 in Rzeszów, where they could see how similar vocational programmes are organised in Poland and exchange experiences with students studying in comparable fields.

The programme also included language and intercultural workshops, giving participants space to practise communication and experience working in an international setting.
Between the different activities, there was also time to explore the region. The group visited the Łańcut Castle Museum, the Rzeszów Underground Route, and spent a day in Kraków, discovering the historical and cultural context of the place where they had spent three weeks.

The project was implemented with the financial support of the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.
