In September 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring Erasmus+ training course titled “Make It Matter: Creative Approaches to Community & Youth Work.” From 21 to 27 September, young people and youth workers from across Europe gathered in Rzeszów for an intensive week dedicated to learning, collaboration, and discovering new ways to create positive change in their communities.
A Week of Learning and Inspiration
The training began with activities designed to help participants connect and discover the city of Rzeszów. Through interactive games and a city tour, participants quickly built a sense of community that would carry them through the rest of the week.
Soon after, the group moved into deeper discussions and workshops focused on community mapping and social challenges. Participants explored the realities faced by different groups within society, including LGBTQ+ communities, immigrants, and young people from rural areas. These conversations encouraged participants to reflect on how youth work and community initiatives can respond to these challenges in meaningful and inclusive ways.
From Ideas to Action
One of the core elements of the training course was learning how to transform ideas into real initiatives. Participants explored the fundamentals of project design, leadership, and teamwork, gaining practical knowledge on how to develop projects that address the needs of their communities.
Working in small international teams, participants moved from theory to practice by designing their own youth-focused project ideas. Through collaborative work and guided exercises, they experienced the full process of developing initiatives—from identifying a community need to planning concrete actions and outcomes.
Building Connections Across Europe
Beyond workshops and learning sessions, the program also created space for participants to share their personal experiences in youth work. A special networking session allowed them to discuss the daily realities and challenges faced by youth workers and young activists across different countries.
Cultural exchange also played an important role during the week. Participants visited the historic Łańcut Castle, exploring the rich cultural heritage of the region and enjoying a moment of relaxation after the intensive learning sessions.
Looking Toward Future Opportunities
As the training came to an end, participants also learned more about European opportunities available to young people and NGOs, including Erasmus+ initiatives and various funding possibilities for youth projects. These sessions helped participants better understand how to transform their ideas into sustainable initiatives and access resources to support their work.
Making an Impact Together
The week in Rzeszów proved that even a short time can have a meaningful impact when people come together with a shared goal. Participants left the training not only with new knowledge and practical skills, but also with new friendships, fresh perspectives, and motivation to make a difference in their communities.
The training course was fully funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, covering travel, accommodation, and participation costs for all attendees.
