In the Kitchen and on the Restaurant Floor

2023-02-20

For two weeks, Rzeszów became a place of learning and work for a group of students from Kisvárdai SZC Csengeri Ady Endre Technikum és Kollégium in Hungary. As part of an Erasmus+ VET programme, they had the opportunity to develop their skills in gastronomy and hospitality while experiencing the everyday work of chefs and waiters.

Much of the programme took place in two hotels in Rzeszów – Hotel Bristol Tradition & Luxury and Grand Hotel Boutique. There, the students could observe how restaurants operate and how teams work together to provide professional service for guests. They spent time both in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor, learning about organisation, customer service and the pace of work in the hospitality sector.

Experiences like this allow students to see their future profession from a different perspective than in a school classroom. By observing professionals and gradually taking part in everyday tasks, they could better understand how the industry functions in practice.

Afternoons offered time for other activities. Workshops, games and group meetings created space for cultural exchange and for practising English in an international environment. Communication skills are essential in the hospitality industry, so these sessions became a natural complement to the experience gained during the day.

Two weeks passed quickly, but they left the students with practical knowledge and many new experiences. For many of them, it was the first opportunity to work and learn in such an international setting within the tourism and hospitality sector.
