Focus on Diversity: Uniting Cultures Through Photography

In a world full of diversity, the power of photography to connect people should never be underestimated. This is exactly what participants experienced during the five-day training course “Focus on Diversity: Uniting Cultures Through Photography.” The program brought together young people aged 16 to 23 from Poland, Hungary, and Georgia, who explored both the artistic and social dimensions of photography.

During the program, participants learned about the technical aspects of photography, including lighting, framing, angles, and composition. However, photography is more than just technique — it also carries an ethical responsibility. This topic was explored in depth during the workshop “Photography and Contemporary Issues,” which served as a starting point for further discussions throughout the entire program.

Yet the success of such a program depends not only on its theme but also on the participants themselves — their openness to learning, interaction, and mutual understanding. Despite cultural and age differences, the young participants shared ideas and perspectives, truly embodying the spirit of a youth exchange. This unity not only enriched the learning experience but also highlighted the core message of the program: photography has the power to connect minds and hearts, transcending borders.

The welcoming and peaceful atmosphere of Rzeszów added even more value to the experience. The charming streets of the city and its friendly environment created perfect conditions for relaxing during free time, as well as for exploring photography and local culture.

On the final day, a photography exhibition was organized as the culmination of the five-day program. The photographs created during the course were displayed, and the atmosphere of the exhibition was lively and inspiring. The images left a strong impression on visitors — sparking emotions and encouraging meaningful conversations.

As the young participants left the program, they carried with them the awareness that a single photograph can challenge stereotypes, celebrate cultural diversity, and promote unity. Whether or not they continue to hold a camera in their hands, they will keep capturing shared human experiences and spreading the powerful message of diversity.
