European Fair: 14 Volunteers, 9 Cultures and One School That Felt Like the Whole World

2026-03-18

When young people from nine different countries enter a school, something immediately shifts in the atmosphere. It becomes more than a learning space; it turns into a meeting point of cultures, ideas, and perspectives. Over the course of two weeks, classrooms transform into mini world maps, and curiosity becomes the shared language that connects everyone.

At INPRO, we recently hosted the European Fair. But what exactly is the European Fair? Imagine 14 volunteers from France, Germany, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Georgia and Finland coming together in one place, each bringing a piece of their culture to share. It’s a short-term volunteering project where multiculturality isn’t just a background actor - it is the main character.

Our volunteers visited the 3rd Liceum and the 8th Liceum in Rzeszów, transforming ordinary lessons into interactive journeys across Europe. Students walked from table to table like cultural explorers, “traveling” to one country at a time, picking up new words, random fun facts, and occasionally wondering how they ended up learning three different ways to say “hello” in under ten minutes.

At Primary school nr 31 and 2nd School Complex in Rzeszów quizzes sparked unexpected competitiveness, storytelling sessions that transported students far beyond the classroom walls, and yes, a few attempts at teaching tongue twisters that left everyone laughing.

And of course, every session ended with real conversations, moments where students and volunteers could go beyond culture, thinking about hobbies, favorite sports, and little details that make each person unique.  Somewhere between the questions, laughter, and shared moments, “another country” didn’t feel so distant anymore.

Back at the office, the experience continued with workshops for the volunteers, designed as spaces for teamwork and shared learning. These sessions focused on collaboration, reflection, and personal growth, allowing the group to explore what working together means across different cultures and perspectives.

Throughout interactive activities and group challenges, volunteers learned how to communicate better, support each other, and turn differences into strength.

Our multinational volunteering team also had the opportunity to visit Łańcut for a one-day trip. During the visit, they explored the city, got to know its local atmosphere, and spent time together outside the usual working environment. It was a valuable moment for informal bonding, cultural discovery, and strengthening group relationships in a relaxed setting.

And of course, no European Fair will be complete without a little bit of humor. Between accidental mistranslation, cultural stereotypes turned into inside jokes, and trying to explain traditions that “just make sense back home”, laughter quickly became the project’s unofficial soundtrack.

The European Fair is more than 2 weeks of activities – it’s a reminder of how powerful human connection can be. In just a short time, strangers from different countries became a team, differences turned into strengths, and learning happened naturally, without anyone even noticing. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after the project ends.
