We started 2024 with great enthusiasm by welcoming eighteen participants from Ukraine, Hungary, and Poland to Rzeszów between 15–19 January for our networking seminar titled “Empowering Youth Networks for Social Progress.”
The program focused on experiences in youth work and the impact that NGOs have on today’s society. The diverse and unique perspectives of the participants enriched the discussions, shedding light on both the opportunities and challenges that non-governmental organizations face in their everyday work.
Together with our volunteers Mariem, Eri, and Adrian, who facilitated the workshops, participants had the opportunity to design their own NGO projects. They selected topics that interested them the most and demonstrated their creativity while developing the branding and concept of their organizations. On the same day, they also presented their visions of youth work through Vision Boards, using various images and quotes to illustrate their ideas.
During the week, participants also had the chance to experience the cultural side of Rzeszów. On Monday they joined a city walk, and on Thursday morning they visited the Rzeszów Underground Museum. They also took part in some of our regular local events, including “Monday Stories,” led by Mariem, who shared insights into life in Tunisia, and “Open Café,” where participants met with local residents of Rzeszów and practiced their language skills in an informal setting.
As the program came to an end, participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the project and for the engaging activities. They also surprised us with a presentation about Ukraine and thoughtful gifts for the volunteers as a token of appreciation for their dedication and passion. A special highlight of the week were the international coffee breaks, where everyone had the chance to taste traditional sweets from Ukraine and Hungary, as well as enjoy fun games and activities organized by the participants during the evening programs.
This program reminded us how powerful the work of youth workers and NGOs can be in shaping society, regardless of geographical or cultural backgrounds, and how their efforts contribute to building stronger and more connected communities.
