Youth Exchanges

Youth Exchanges

Youth Exchanges allow groups of young people to meet, live together and work on a shared project for short periods of time. The main goal of a Youth Exchange is to provide young people from at least two different countries with an opportunity to discuss and confront various themes, while giving the participants a unique perspective into – and knowledge about, each other’s countries and cultures.

During the Youth Exchange, the participants, in cooperation with the group leaders, jointly carry out a program, which has been designed and prepared by them before the Exchange. The learning process in Youth Exchanges is triggered by non-formal education, and therefore the program is often a mix of workshops, exercises, debates, role-plays, simulations and outdoor activities. Youth Exchanges usually lasts between 5 and 21 days, and are open to people between the ages of 13 and 30. A Youth Exchange is often free of charge to attend for the participant, as the EU covers travel costs, as well as practical and activity-related costs.

An example of a Youth Exchange that INPRO has implemented is “Youth in Tune”. Between the 2nd and 9th of December, 2017 the Youth Exchange brought together 27 young people from five different countries to Rzeszow, Poland. Throughout the week, the participants were challenged with creating a production crew, including a music band, a scenography team and a video and IT processing team. However, they also learned how to best work with each other, clarify misunderstandings, share skills and enjoy each other’s company.

Participants who take part in these projects are young people active in our association. These are mentors, volunteers, employees and members. Taking part in such initiatives is one of the advantages which comes when you get involved in our organization.
