Young Citizens of Armenia

Young Citizens of Armenia

Young citizens of Armenia is a European Solidarity Corps project realized in cooperation with the KASA Foundation from Armenia. Thanks to the previous positive experience, we decided to work again in partnership with KASA and continue our fruitful cooperation.

As part of the project, our organization received funds to enable two Polish volunteers to travel to Armenia and work as volunteers in our partner’s structures for several months.  The KASA Foundation is one of the largest NGOs in Armenia. It was founded in 2000 to fight the tragic effects of an earthquake by conducting humanitarian projects.

Currently, in addition to humanitarian activities, KASA also realizes educational and tourist projects, running its centers in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, as well as in the city of Gyumri. KASA regularly hosts European volunteers, also those applying from Poland. As part of the project, Magda got involved in the foundation’s branch in Yerevan, while Justyna went to Gyumri to help run the KASA Gyumri Center and Guest House.

Both in Yerevan and Gyumri, Magda and Justyna are involved in one of KASA’s most successful projects on Active Citizenship, volunteering, and civil society reinforcement, together with local volunteers, called Young Citizens of Armenia. Civic Education through Promotion of Social Innovation.  The project aims to contribute to the development of engaged and solution-oriented young Armenian citizens thus promoting the development of a more democratic and transparent society in Armenia.

During their stay in Armenia for several months, volunteers participate in a number of educational and social activities, such as organizing language cafes, youth clubs, workshops, meetings, and other events. The implementation of the project makes it possible to support volunteers not only in substantive terms but also to cover their accommodation, meals, and travel expenses. Magda started her mobility in December 2019 and will stay in Yerevan till the end of September 2020. Justyna arrived in Gyumri in October 2019 and will end her volunteering experience at the end of September 2020.
