Hate speech, fake news and freedom of speech in Lviv

On February 3 – 11, Lviv in Ukraine hosted the “Too many news – my own views” training as part of the Erasmus + program, which was attended by representatives from Poland sent by the INPRO Association.

The program organized by the organization “European Ways” was also attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations from eleven countries, including Italy, Russia, Cyprus, Belarus and Greece.

The main goal of the training was to educate participants in the detection of fake news, methods of manipulation and conducting a proper media narrative. In addition to interesting classes with the trainer Kateryna Zeziuliną – concerning also counteracting hate speech and analyzing media messages – the participants organized a demonstration in Lviv, during which they discussed with the local population, exchanging experiences and promoting European values.

The visit to Lviv allowed participants to get to know the Ukrainian capital of culture and integrate more closely with the locals and with each other. During the project, they also got acquainted with the procedure of organizing their own international training, and also had the opportunity to present the activities of the sending organizations and to establish cooperation.
