International Projects’ Association INPRO was a partner of MTÜ Kalliralli for the “Wake up. Act. Change” training course. The project aimed at empowering and enabling youth workers and youth leaders to increase the level and quality of youth participation in their local communities.

The training course “Wake up. Act. Change” brought together 27 youth workers and youth activists from 9 EU and neighbourhood countries.

The project objectives were:

– To explore the opportunities and challenges of youth participation and involvement in democratic and civic life;
– To examine youth projects (international, national, regional, local) as a way of enhancing the participation of young people at different levels;
– To share best practices of active youth participation in participants’ countries, regions and communities;
– To inform youth workers about new instruments of participatory democracy and engagement into community life;
– To contribute to recognition of non-formal education methods to boost active participation of youngsters in the civic live and democratic processes.
– To promote the core EU values and cooperation under the Erasmus+ program.

During the project the participants discussed  the youth participation topic,  they had open workshops, where they gave speeches on different topics – from refugees to a fundraising for voluntary work. In smaller groups people shared their experiences and best practices in working with young people. The participants also had a study trip to Tõstamaa, where they were presented actions of local youth as a good example of youth participation.

The programme was based on non-formal education methodology.
