International Youth Center PERON

Discover what is International Youth Center PERON :

Since its foundation INPRO has always had the dream of one day creating a unique social-cultural space and lodging for travelers and youth in Rzeszow. We dreamed of a space where residents from our city and from surrounding areas, students and teachers on school trips and tourists from around the world would come together and receive a warm welcome. And although our space would mostly cater to the development of youth, everyone would find a place for themselves here.

With that said, this year we are proud to present PERON International Youth Center. This is the name we have chosen for our dream. Peron meaning “platform” in Polish. (That’s just a small nudge in the direction of the train station where we’re located. And now you won’t forget where we are!) Besides lodging travelers, PERON with the help of our international volunteers will also host workshops, debates, meetings, intercultural evenings and youth clubs. And this is just the beginning of what we’d like to do.

So what will PERON look like?

International Youth Center PERON is a social enterprise that will function within the structures of our association, INPRO. It will be located on the second floor of the eastern wing of the Main Railway Station in Rzeszów (building with a yellow facade). Its space will cover 340 square meters, which will consist of:

• 7 4-person rooms with bunk beds
• 3 bathrooms
• a laundry room
• a fully equipped kitchen
• a dining room
• a reception desk
• a training room
• 3 offices

At what stage of the investment are we in?

We are now in the first year of implementing our project. Why has it taken so long you may ask. Well, first of all the building in which PERON is located was initially registered as an office building. So in order to accommodate travelers, we needed to change the registration of the building, as well as get the appropriate building permits. Secondly, in order to receive the funds from the Development Agency, we needed several months to prepare the business plan which was reviewed and eventually accepted. And finally, the owner of the building and supporter of our initiative, PKP S.A., has undertaken the plumbing and electrical installations, adapting it as closely as possible to the needs of our project.

Now it is June 2019, and we’re patiently waiting for the building permit to be issued. If all goes well, we should be ready to open within 3 months after getting the permit.

So stay tuned, more information will be coming soon.
